2013 Essence Music Festival

The 2013 Essence Music Festival marked the 3rd year in a row that my client and friend, Kourtney Heart, would have the pleasure to share her musical talents on stage for all to see. This year was particularly special as she performed in the Mercedes Benz Superdome on the closeout night in the Ford Super Lounge. The same night as Beyonce, TGT, Marsha Ambrosius, Rachelle Farrell, Janelle Monae, Tamia, Mint Condition, Luke James, and more. In such great company her destiny is surely written in the stars. I created her performance look using Too Faced Cosmetics "The Return of Sexy" Eye Palette, MAC Cosmetics So Chaud lipstick, and a blush to compliment her lip color.

I wanted her skin to look as flawless as possible but still very much natural. Contouring & Highlighting were an essential key to completing this look. Stay tuned for a step-by-step tutorial on this...

If you didn't get a chance to see Kourtney Heart's performance on Sunday night head over to Essence.com to watch her performance of "Beautiful Tears". The audience was in awe as she poured her heart out in this self written song filled with raw emotions. This was my favorite moment of her performance. At one point, I looked around to see people in tears themselves as they connected with every word she sang.
